AMSS October Message from President

amss logo It was nice to see so many toy runs being organized in so many communities throughout Alberta.

We should all be super proud of how we are directly responsible for putting a smile on children’s faces this Christmas!  Give yourselves a round of applause, not only for the toy runs, but another amazing season of charity rides!  We are the most giving group of people around and so many benefit from that generosity.

Unfortunately our community suffered a loss after the Edmonton Motorcycle Toy Run.  This fatality is just one of way to many this year throughout our entire province.  We at the AMSS are committed to lowering the serious injury and fatality statistics in our community but we can’t do this without your help.  Please consider becoming a member and wear that membership proudly!  At the very least, we ask that you subscribe to or follow any or all of the many social media outlets we have and share, please share!  We are continuing to create awareness and educational materials in the forms of audio podacasts on Soundcloud and video podcasts on our YouTube channel.  All of our Public Service Announcements are on our YouTube channel as well and we encourage you to share it all and share often.  We can be far more effective with a larger reach and we count on you to help with that.

If there is a topic that you would like to see addressed, please contact us and let us know!  Over the winter we have some downtime from riding and events that allow us to reach into our contact base of industry experts to record more informational podcasts.  The more correct information we can put out there, the better for teaching all roads users on how to keep everyone safe.  After all, traffic safety starts with each individual road user regardless of choice of transportation.

Finally, we would like to have more of a presence in more communities next season.  To do so, we need people in other jurisdictions outside of the Edmonton and Greater Area to step up and help represent!  We will make our way to as many events in other areas as possible but as a purely volunteer organization, it can be tough to travel every weekend to be everywhere.  You must be a card carrying member of the AMSS (Join Us) to be a representative and we will give you all the support you need to be at events representing safer roads.  If you are interested, please Contact Us and let us know!

Thank you all for your continued support!  Please remember to ride smart, ride safe and Think Bike!

Liane
