President’s Message

It is an honour to be elected President of the Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association. I look forward to this privilege, and our 100% volunteer Board will work diligently to represent the interests of our users and member clubs - providing safe, responsible and environmentally sustainable OHV recreation.

I would like to thank our past president Brent Hodgson for his valuable contributions and leadership of the organization for the last 10 years, and for continuing to provide his knowledge and experience through involvement on our Board. The AOHVA is comprised of a diverse group of people who care for and love Alberta’s landscape, and we will continue our efforts to deliver sustainable solutions based on the proven successes of many other jurisdictions.

With increased pressure for recreational off-highway vehicle use on single track and multi-use trails, AOHVA continues to work in partnership with our affiliates at the national level, and actively advocate at the provincial and local levels for sustainable access of recreational trails in the province.

As the provincial voice for off-highway vehicle users, we will work hard to ensure we are hearing and accurately representing the interests of our members, advocating on behalf of, and being accessible as a valuable resource for our clubs and users.

Recognizing all activities on the landscape have an impact, our guiding principles respect both our environment and other users – and look forward to working with government and other stakeholders on conservation and recreational land use policies.

The Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association is dedicated to providing safe, sustainable motorized recreational activities in an environmentally responsible manner - committed to preserving both our environment and Albertans’ responsible access and enjoyment of our public lands.

Support of your recreation is important to its vitality. Please consider becoming a member, joining a club, volunteering or serving those who are actively engaged in trail stewardship on our landscape. Together, we all make a difference.

Best Regards,

Garett Schmidt, President
Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association
