2018 Ride for Motorcycle Awareness and Memorial Ride Sept 9, 2018 Featured

Riders Raising Awareness 2018 Motorcycle Awareness and Memorial Ride Held annually on the second Sunday in September.

This year falling on Sunday September 9 th . It is hosted by Drivers Against Distraction (DADONTARIO.ORG) is a group that promotes Motorcycle Awareness to Motorists. Many of us have lost loved ones or have survived collisions and seek to share stories. We attend public events and make signs and bumper stickers promoting slogans like “ See Me Save Me ”, “ Look Twice Save A life ” and “ Distracted Driving Kills ”’ .

8:30 AM The 2018 Ride Kicks off with a “by donation” fundraising breakfast featuring Speaker Provincial

Constable Peter Tucker. He will be telling his storey (9-9:30) and sharing words of wisdom that will inspire those healing from trauma. PC Tucker’s collision occurred in 2014 while training for motorcycle motorcade. He is also the commentator and experienced member of the OPP GOLDEN HELMETS .

10 Am OPP Golden Helmets perform in Downtown Gananoque. The Ontario Provincial Police Golden Helmets Motorcycle Precision Team was formed in 1963. Each year they tour the Province of Ontario giving exhibitions of superb riding skills at fairs, festivals and parades. The 20-member team, comprised of OPP officers on regular patrol duties, consists of the Ride Master, Commentator, the motorcycle technician and 17 riders. The motorcycles used by the Golden Helmets are Harley Davidson Police Specials. They have 1690 c.c. engines and weigh 800 pounds. These motorcycles are the same ones used

on normal patrol. During each 30-minute performance the riders take their machines through a series of complex patterns, which are intended to demonstrate the maneuverability of the machines and the riders' skills. FREE SHOW FOR EVERYONE / GENERAL PUBLIC WELCOME

Location Charles St South between Kings St and Sydenham St. a shuttle bus runs from the arena to downtown.

11/11:30 – Ride/Drive for Motorcycle Awareness leaves Lou Jefferies Arena. This two hour ride will venture North of Lynn and back in the Parkway. Poker Run. Registration is $20 per bike Passenger by donation Lunch is included.

Registration is at Lou Jeffries arena from 8 am to 9:30 am or register online at www.dadontario.org.

There will be a shuttle bus between the arena and the OPP Golden Helmets show.

1:30 -3:00 Catered Lunch:, Vendors, Kids Activities, Bike Photos/Social media pledge, Silent Auction and Prizes
